The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes are a federally recognized tribe, composed of several bands of Shoshone and Bannock people whose traditional lands extend into what is now the states of Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Nevada, Washington and Oregon. President Johnson established a 1.8 million-acre Reservation by Executive Order in 1867. The following year, the 1868 Fort Bridger Treaty affirmed the Fort Hall Reservation as our permanent home, and the U.S. Senate ratified the Treaty in 1869. The original reservation extended south as far as Malad Pass and east into Lava Hot Springs. We have a population of 6,000 plus tribal members and growing.
